Origin
The Stromer ST7 was unveiled in 2022 as the Swiss brand's new flagship speed pedelec, succeeding the ST5 at the top of the lineup. Stromer positioned it as a no-compromise premium commuter, and it became the world's first speed pedelec to combine an electronic Pinion Smart.Shift gearbox with a Gates carbon belt drive. It debuted with a Launch Edition in Solid Gold before the Dark Platinum colourway followed in early 2023.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Class-leading 1440 Wh integrated battery giving up to 260 km range — the largest in the S-pedelec class
- World-first electronic Pinion C1.12 Smart.Shift gearbox with Gates carbon belt: low-maintenance, sealed, automatic shift recommendations in 0.2 s
- Integrated Blubrake ABS with powerful TRP 4-piston 203/203 mm brakes — a genuine safety advance at 45 km/h speeds
- Deep connectivity via OMNI: GPS tracking, Smartlock auto-locking, OTA updates, ride stats and theft protection
- Premium commuter equipment out of the box: Supernova lighting, fenders, rack, Brooks Cambium saddle
−Weaknesses
- Very high price (€11,490–€12,990) places it at the top of the S-pedelec market
- Heavy bike (~30–36 kg estimated) — Stromer does not officially publish the weight, making it awkward to lift or carry
- Some owners report the regenerative braking blending oddly with the mechanical brakes (regen lingers ~1 s after release)
- No suspension as standard; comfort relies on high-volume tires, optional fork costs extra
- S-pedelec legal status (insurance plate, helmet, no bike-path access in many EU countries) limits where it can be ridden
