Origin

The ZR Team has been Radon's affordable XC hardtail entry point since 2010 — an aluminum bike designed for riders who want reliable XC performance without the carbon premium. The efficient geometry (steep 69.5° head angle, 73.6° seat angle) suits fast cross-country riding, while the RockShox Judy fork and hydraulic disc brakes deliver more than expected at the price. Available in both 29" and 27.5" wheel sizes, it covers the broadest audience of any Radon hardtail.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Strong component spec (NX Eagle 1×12, hydraulic disc) at an accessible price
  • Efficient XC geometry suits fast, smooth trail and race circuit riding
  • Available in both 29" and 27.5" for genuine rider choice
Weaknesses
  • ~2,000 g aluminum frame is notably heavier than Radon's own Jealous carbon
  • Wire-bead tires are not tubeless-ready — an easy upgrade but an extra cost
  • Steep 69.5° head angle is limiting on more technical descents
