Origin

Three aerospace engineers (names not public) Arcugnano, Berici Hills, Vicenza, Italy Campagnolo S.p.A. (Vicenza, founded 1933 by Tullio Campagnolo) Campagnolo's freehub was incompatible with Shimano/SRAM cassettes. Fulcrum was created as a sub-brand to sell Campagnolo wheel technology to riders using non-Campagnolo groupsets — dramatically expanding addressable market. Within 12 months of founding, Fulcrum reached €6M revenue. 70% exported. Per BikeBiz 2009. Julien Absalon (XC World Cup) raced on Fulcrum wheels. Fulcrum's MTB wheel family — named to evoke danger zone / performance boundary. XC/Marathon/Downcountry focused.
