Glencoe

Origin

The Glencoe is named after Glencoe in the Scottish Highlands — one of the most dramatic landscapes in the UK — and is designed for riders who want to explore it. Where the Gisburn leans toward off-road performance, the Glencoe prioritises load-carrying practicality: full mudguard compatibility, rear rack mounts, sealed cable ports and a more upright, touring-friendly position. It's aimed at commuters, tourers and audax riders who want a capable alloy drop-bar bike for all weathers.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Mudguard and rack compatibility makes it genuinely practical for year-round commuting and touring
  • 650b x 47c Maxxis Receptor tires provide excellent comfort on mixed surfaces
  • Sealed cable ports and alloy construction suit UK all-weather riding
Weaknesses
  • No dropper post — fixed seatpost limits technical off-road capability vs the Gisburn
  • SRAM Apex 1x11 cassette range (10-42T) is narrower than XPLR gravel-specific options
  • Alloy fork transmits more road vibration than carbon — relevant on long days
