Origin

Velt Smart is an Estonian electric-scooter brand created by the Veltekspert team, who designed it around real local riding conditions — Tallinn's urban environment, infrastructure and traffic rules. It was positioned as the lightest large-wheel e-scooter on the market, tuned for Estonian roads. As of 07.03.2025 the official Estonian representation moved from Veltekspert to Tõuksimaailm, which now distributes Velt Smart alongside Inokim, Vsett and Kaabo. The exact 'Smart EX' name is not confirmed in any source — the verified lineup is Eco, X7 and X8/Pro.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Large 10" pneumatic tires + 120 mm ground clearance give a comfortable, stable ride over rough Estonian roads despite having no mechanical suspension
  • Removable, swappable battery — charge indoors or carry a spare for extended range
  • Lightweight for its wheel size (Eco ~14-15 kg), easy to fold and carry
  • Locally designed and locally supported (EE brand, official EE service via Tõuksimaailm)
  • Practical everyday kit: LCD display, 3 speed modes, cruise control, front+rear LED lights
Weaknesses
  • Only a single rear mechanical disc brake (no hydraulic, no front disc) — modest stopping power versus higher-end rivals
  • No mechanical suspension; ride comfort relies entirely on the air tires
  • No published IP water-resistance rating — wet-weather durability unclear
  • Modest real-world range (Eco ~25 km, Pro ~31 km tested) well below optimistic manufacturer figures
  • Long charge times (Eco 5-6 h, Pro 7-8 h); 25 km/h hard limit and inner-tube tires (puncture-prone vs tubeless/solid)
