Origin

The Phoenix is Pivot's downhill race weapon, the platform from which DW-link knowledge flows down to the Firebird and Mach 6. The current generation's standout engineering feature — a dual-chain drive system on the 2025 model — addresses the chain-growth challenges of mid-high pivot geometry, allowing a more rearward axle path (better traction) without the drivetrain compromises that have plagued other high-pivot designs. It is raced at the highest level of World Cup DH competition.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • World Cup-level DH geometry with dual flip-chip tuning flexibility
  • Mid-high pivot rearward axle path excels at rough, square-edge terrain
  • Dual-chain drive (2025+) solves high-pivot drivetrain efficiency in a novel way
Weaknesses
  • Pure DH bike — zero pedalling efficiency, useless without a lift
  • 157 mm rear spacing limits wheel/hub compatibility versus 148 mm trail bikes
  • Premium pricing with limited accessibility for most riders
