  • T47 BB resolves Trek's biggest historical complaint BB90 creak was the bane of every Madone/Émonda owner. T47 is straightforwardly serviceable by any shop with a standard tool. Major QoL improvement.

  • Integrated cockpit limits fit adjustability Aerolever is one piece — changing stem length or bar width requires replacing the whole unit (€600-900). Plan your fit carefully before purchase or use Project One custom-spec.
  • Internal storage feels like a gimmick Small downtube compartment fits CO2 + multitool but no spare tube. Some reviewers see it as marketing more than utility.
  • 32c clearance not future-proof enough Specialized Tarmac SL8 and Pinarello Dogma F now go to 32-34c. Trek's 32c is competitive but not class-leading for the wider-tire trend.

Sweet spot: Madone SLR 6 AXS at €8 999 — first 800 Series carbon tier, SRAM Rival AXS is fully wireless 12-speed, Bontrager Aeolus Pro 51 carbon wheels included. Below this is SL 7 with 500 Series carbon (€3 500 cheaper but heavier frame).

T47 BB is a major upgrade from BB90 — eliminates Trek's most-hated creak problem. If choosing between Gen 7 used (BB90) and Gen 8 new (T47), the T47 alone justifies a significant price gap for long-term ownership.

Aerolever integrated cockpit is non-adjustable — bar width and stem length are fixed per SKU. Get a Trek dealer fit BEFORE ordering or use Project One custom-spec. Changing later costs €600-900 for a new cockpit.

If your priority is climbing and you can find Émonda SLR 2021-2023 used at €4 000-6 000 — that's still the lighter bike (740 g frame vs 800 g Madone Gen 8). Madone Gen 8 closes the gap but doesn't eliminate it.

SRAM Red AXS vs Shimano Dura-Ace Di2 at SLR 9 tier — same €13 499 price. Red AXS is wireless + lighter; Dura-Ace Di2 is semi-wired but with sharper shifts and better front derailleur. Personal preference, not performance gap.

Bontrager Aeolus RSL 51 wheels (on SLR 7+ builds) retail €2 800-3 200 separately — strong baseline. If buying SL tier consider upgrading Bontrager Paradigm alloy wheels to RSL 51 (€2 800 swap-up) before reaching for SLR-tier complete bike.

Project One custom paint adds €500-1 500 and 4-8 weeks lead time. Worth it for a long-keeper bike — not for someone who flips bikes every 2-3 years.

Tire clearance 32c officially, 30c is the practical sweet spot for Baltic spring/autumn roads. Don't run 25c just because the team pros do — 28-30c is more comfortable + nearly as fast on real roads.
