Scalpel SE tika ieviests 2021. modeļa gadam kā down-country / trail orientētais tīrā XC Scalpel brālis. Tam ir tā pati Flexpivot aizmugurējā piekare, kas izmanto elastīgu oglekļa šķiedras aizmugurējo dakšu, nevis eņģi pie aizmugurējās ass, lai ietaupītu svaru un stingrību, un palielināja gājienu no 100mm līdz 120mm priekšā un aizmugurē, atslābināja galvas leņķi līdz 66,6 grādiem, pievienoja nolaižamo stūres statni un izturīgākas riepas. 2024. gada pārveidojums ienesa Scalpel SE vienotā platformā ar XC Scalpel, dalot to pašu rāmja formu, bet ar garāka gājiena amortizatoru, jaudīgāku dakšu un trail orientētu komplektāciju. Tas tiek ražots Cannondale Āzijas oglekļa šķiedras ražotnēs un tiek pārdots visā pasaulē. SE nosaukums (Special Edition) kļuva par zīmola paraksta kategoriju 'down-country' segmentam, kas eksplodēja pēc 2020. gada, kad XC braucēji vēlējās velosipēdus, kas spējīgi uz grūtāku nobraucienu.
