Cookie Policy
This page explains which cookies and similar technologies URBALT uses, why we use them, and how you can control them.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files stored on your device when you visit a website. They help the site remember things like whether you are signed in, your language preference, and anonymous usage statistics. Similar technologies (local storage, session storage) work the same way.
2. Categories we use
URBALT uses only two categories of cookies. We do not run advertising or cross-site tracking.
- Essential — required for the site to work. Signing in, keeping you signed in, remembering your language. These cannot be turned off.
- Analytics — anonymous, aggregated usage data (page views, device type, rough country) that helps us improve the product. You can turn these off at any time.
3. The specific cookies we set
- sid (essential) — your session identifier after sign-in. HTTP-only, secure, same-site. Removed when you sign out or when the session expires.
- NEXT_LOCALE (essential) — remembers your language choice (en / et / ru / lv / lt) so the site opens in the right language next time.
- cookie_consent (essential) — records your choice in the consent banner so we do not keep asking. Stored as a small preference, not tied to your identity.
- Umami analytics (analytics) — privacy-friendly, self-hosted analytics. Collects anonymous page views without personal data, IP-hashed, no cross-site profile. Disabled by default until you accept.
We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or advertising cookies.
4. How to manage cookies
You can accept or reject analytics cookies at any time through our consent banner. Click the button below to open the settings:
You can also clear or block cookies through your browser settings. Every major browser (Chrome, Firefox, Safari, Edge) offers cookie controls. Blocking essential cookies will sign you out and may break parts of the site.
5. How long we keep them
- Session (sid) — expires when you sign out, or after ~30 days of inactivity.
- Language (NEXT_LOCALE) — up to 1 year.
- Consent choice (cookie_consent) — up to 1 year, then we ask again.
- Analytics — aggregated, no long-term per-user retention.
6. Changes to this policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we add features or change providers. When we do, we update the date at the top of the page. Substantial changes will be flagged in the consent banner.
For details on how we process personal data, see our Privacy Policy. Questions? Write to [email protected].
