Events — meetups and group rides

The events page is where the URBALT community gathers in real life. Group rides, cleanup days, races, bike-fix workshops, scooter meetups — anything where members meet up and do something together.

What you can do

  • Browse upcoming events near you — the list is ordered by date, soonest first.
  • Open an event to see the full description, a map with the starting point, the exact time, and who else is going.
  • RSVP with one click — going (you'll be there), interested (leaning towards yes, might decide later), or not going (this one isn't for you, but you still saw it).
  • Organise your own event — anyone with an identity set can create one.

RSVP — what each one means

  • Going — you plan to show up. Your name is on the going list, the organiser sees it, other members can see roughly how popular the event is.
  • Interested — you're on the fence. Good for when you're 50/50 and want to get a reminder as the date approaches. It also signals to the organiser that more people might come.
  • Not going — you're saying "thanks, not this time". This clears the event from any future reminders and lets the organiser know you're out.

You can change your RSVP any time until the event starts. Plans change — organisers expect it.

Create an event

  1. Go to /community/events/new — or click Create event from the events list.
  2. Pick a clear title — "Sunday morning MTB at Kõrvemaa" beats "Ride".
  3. Set date and time (start, and optional end).
  4. Drop a pin on the map for the starting point. For rides, this should be where everyone meets, not where you'll end up.
  5. Write a short description: what kind of ride, difficulty, pace, distance, what to bring, whether e-bikes are welcome.
  6. Pick the discipline (bike / scooter / hike) so the right people see it.
  7. Publish. Your event shows up on the events page and in the relevant forum category's Events tab.

Organising tips

  • Set expectations — skill level, speed, how long the ride is. "Chill coffee ride" and "technical 40 km MTB" attract very different people.
  • Meet somewhere obvious — a café, a carpark, a known landmark. Avoid generic "bike path at X".
  • Post a pre-ride update in the community feed on the day if weather changes plans — tag the event with @.
  • Check the RSVP list the night before so you have a rough headcount.
  • Be welcoming. First-time riders might feel awkward showing up to a group of strangers — a quick hello helps.

Attending tips

  • RSVP honestly — if you change your mind, change your RSVP. Organisers plan based on headcount.
  • Come prepared — water, snacks, tools for minor fixes, a working light if it's dusk.
  • Respect the pace. If the event says "chill ride", don't drop the group. If it says "fast", don't slow everyone down.
  • Show up on time. A group of 10 waiting for one person is a bad start.
  • It's not a race unless the event says it is. Safety over speed, always.

Safety

Events are community-organised. URBALT doesn't vet or insure them. Use your judgement — check the organiser's profile, read past event comments, ride within your skill. On the road, obey traffic laws; off-road, respect trails and nature reserves.

Cross-border events

Events are pinned to the domain they're created on, but they're visible to the whole Baltic community via the feed 80/20 mix. A Latvian gravel race will show up for Estonian and Lithuanian riders interested in the region. Travel if you like; borders are friendly.
