Mantis 8 Pro
Origin
Kaabo is a Shenzhen-based e-scooter manufacturer that emerged in 2017-2018 from the broader Chinese electric vehicle parts industry, initially producing OEM components before launching consumer-branded scooters in 2018-2019. The Mantis line, launched 2019, was positioned as 'enthusiast performance accessible to non-millionaires' — competing against premium brands like Dualtron (Korea, Minimotors), Apollo (Canada/CN), and Inokim (Israel/CN). The Mantis 8 Pro arrived 2020 as the smaller-wheeled sibling of the popular Mantis 10, targeting urban-performance riders who wanted dual-motor capability without the 10" wheelbase. Voro Motors (US) became the dominant Western distributor, with EU operations expanding 2021-2023 via German and Dutch warehouses. The Mantis platform earned cult status among the European scooter enthusiast community for its combination of dual hydraulic discs, dual suspension, and dual motors at the €1500-1800 price point — significantly more performance per euro than premium-tier competitors.

- Brakes
- Hydraulic disc brake (Zoom or similar OEM caliper, 140mm rotor) Hydraulic disc on front wheel — major upgrade over commuter-scooter E-ABS systems. Strong, modulated stopping power even in wet conditions. Pads are user-replaceable (€10-20). Hydraulic disc brake (Zoom or similar, 140mm rotor) Hydraulic disc on rear wheel — matched to front. Dual hydraulic disc system is one of the Mantis platform's headline features and a key reason the scooter is considered safe at higher speeds. Hydraulic discs need periodic pad inspection (every 1000-2000 km) and brake fluid bleed every 2-3 years. Air in the lines causes spongy feel — common after long storage or rough transport. Voro Motors EU and Speedway-distributors offer bleed kits with mineral oil (DO NOT use DOT brake fluid — incompatible with the seals).
