S1
Origin
Inmotion (founded 2012 in Shenzhen, China) built its early reputation on premium electric unicycles (the V-series), winning a small but loyal global following for build quality and innovative engineering. The S1 launched in early 2022 as Inmotion's serious push into the mainstream commuter e-scooter market — competing not on price (Inmotion is not the cheapest) and not on range (Inmotion is not the longest), but on build quality, sportier ride feel, and the inclusion of features (dual suspension, color touchscreen) that the dominant Segway and Xiaomi commuters lacked at the same price. The S1 was Inmotion's response to a clear market gap: riders who wanted a scooter with the build quality of a €1000+ premium model at the €700-850 price point.
Specifications
- Brakes
- Electronic brake (regen + motor cut) Front electronic brake — combines regen and motor cut for non-mechanical front braking. Similar concept to Segway G30 E-ABS but Inmotion tunes it to be smoother and less abrupt under panic stops. Drum brake (mechanical, sealed) Sealed mechanical drum at the rear. Same enclosed-design advantage as Segway G30 — performs reliably in wet/dirty conditions, doesn't suffer from open-disc fouling. Hand-lever actuated via cable. Front electronic brake feel is one of the S1's strengths — smoother and more progressive than Segway G30's E-ABS. Still, on wet cobblestone the combined stopping distance extends; rider should always use both brakes simultaneously, not just the rear.
