Bergamont Sponsor (Disc)
Origin
Note: this model is the city/urban Sponsor Disc, NOT an XC race bike — the user's brief contained a misclassification. The Bergamont Sponsor is a long-running entry-level urban / city / light-trekking platform that has been in the catalogue since the mid-2010s in two frame shapes: Sponsor Disc Gent (high-bar diamond frame) and Sponsor Disc Lady (low-step wave frame). It is the cheapest disc-brake equipped bike in the Bergamont range and is positioned as the everyday 'work commuter' — full mudguards, rack, lights, broad tyres, upright geometry, 3x8 Shimano drivetrain and a short-travel Suntour suspension fork for kerbs and cobblestones. Sponsor is the model Bergamont dealers in Estonia, Latvia and Lithuania most often recommend to first-time buyers and to municipal bike-share-style commuter purchases because of its low price, low maintenance, and parts availability. There is no XC race version of the Sponsor — the user may have confused it with the Revox carbon XC hardtail, which is Bergamont's actual cross-country race bike.
