Origin

Yeti launched the SB150 in 2018 as its dedicated 29" enduro race weapon, replacing the SB5.5 and marking a clean break from the organic shapes of earlier models with a long, slack, aggressive geometry. Built around Yeti's signature Switch Infinity translating-pivot link (the only suspension design of its kind), it paired 170 mm front / 150 mm rear travel with a frame tested to downhill standards. It quickly became the brand's EWS flagship, racking up more World Series stage wins than any other enduro bike of its era.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Exceptional high-speed stability and descending confidence — reviewers call it among the fastest enduro bikes for descending almost any trail
  • Switch Infinity suspension gives a very comfortable, traction-rich rear end while still pedaling efficiently uphill
  • Modern long/slack/steep-seat geometry that is EWS-proven (most EWS stage wins of its generation)
  • Premium build kits (SRAM X01/Code RSC, FOX 36 GRIP2, Float X2) perform at an elite level
  • Climbs well for a 150 mm enduro bike thanks to the 77° seat angle and anti-squat tuning
Weaknesses
  • Demands an active, aggressive riding style — not playful or forgiving for less committed riders
  • Limited suspension reserves; can feel harsh under repeated big hits compared with plusher rivals
  • Internally routed cables can rattle due to poor securing at frame entry/exit points
  • Very expensive — flagship TURQ builds reach the top of the enduro price bracket
  • Stock rear tire (Aggressor 2.3) and occasionally undersized rear rotor are common upgrade points
