VitusVitesse Evo

01
Origin
Vitus pioneered carbon frames in the 1980s, declined through the 2000s, and relaunched in 2009 — the Vitesse EVO is the platform rebuilding the brand's racing credentials. It's Vitus's all-rounder carbon race bike at direct-to-consumer pricing, the answer to Specialized Tarmac / Cervélo Soloist / Trek Émonda but at roughly 40–50% lower spec-for-spec retail since there is no dealer margin. The frame was raced by the An Post-Chain Reaction Continental team. The current generation is disc-only.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Stiff, racy, rewarding pro-grade frameset (used by Continental team An Post-Chain Reaction) at well under shop-brand pricing
- Excellent descending precision and confident, controlled handling
- Strong climbing performance — lightweight, efficient power transfer
- Exceptional value: same frame across builds from ~£1,999 (105) to ~£4,799 (Red AXS)
- Dropped seatstays + 27.2mm post add genuine rear-end compliance for a race bike
−Weaknesses
- Firm, uncompromising ride — the focused, aggressive persona won't suit casual or comfort-seeking riders
- Not the lightest for a race-level bike (frame heavier than some carbon rivals)
- Plain, 'ordinary' aesthetics and limited colour options
- Budget builds use alloy seatpost/cockpit as cost concessions
- No dealer fitting support (direct-to-consumer) — buyer must know their fit
