The verdict

+Strengths
  • Shimano MT200 hydraulic disc brakes are a genuine upgrade over mechanicals at this price tier
  • Sport geometry makes the bike accessible and comfortable for trail beginners and casual riders
  • Shimano Altus drivetrain is extremely widespread — parts and service available everywhere in Europe
Weaknesses
  • RST Blaze coil fork is heavy and lacks the suppleness of higher-end air forks
  • Shimano Altus 2x8 shifting is functional but noticeably slower than modern 1x drivetrains
  • Entry-level tires wear quickly and grip poorly in wet conditions
