Origin

Gazela is one of Romet's longest-running and most recognisable lines — a women's city/trekking bike built for everyday riding in Poland and the Baltics. The aluminium frame uses a low-step trekking geometry for easy mounting, and bikes arrive fully equipped: rear rack, mudguards, chainguard, kickstand and lights. Trims ladder from 3x7 21-speed V-brake builds up to 3x8 24-speed bikes with Shimano hydraulic discs and a hub dynamo, all made in Poland.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Fully equipped for daily use — rack, fenders, chainguard, lights
  • Low-step women's geometry is easy and comfortable to ride
  • Wide trim range covers budget to disc-brake, dynamo-lit builds
Weaknesses
  • Entry trims use V-brakes and basic forks
  • Equipped trekking build is heavy for hilly commutes
  • Derailleur drivetrain needs more upkeep than an internal hub
