Origin

The Fenix has been Ridley's endurance road answer since the early 2010s. The SLiC generation (2020+) brought full F-Steerer cable integration to the comfort category — previously associated only with aero bikes. The combination of a wide, stiff BB and diamond-shaped down tube for power transfer with a thin rear triangle and 27.2mm seatpost for compliance defines its character.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Comfortable and compliant ride from 27.2mm seatpost + curved top tube without sacrificing stiffness
  • F-Steerer integration gives clean aesthetics and aerodynamic benefit unusual for an endurance bike
  • Wide compatibility across Shimano groupset tiers (105 Di2 to Ultegra Di2)
Weaknesses
  • BB86 press-fit standard can creak — more maintenance-sensitive than threaded alternatives
  • Max 28mm tyre clearance is narrow for modern endurance trends
  • SRAM mechanical and Campagnolo groupsets not compatible with the direct-mount FD
