Dune Carbon

e-mtb
01

Origin

Mondraker positioned the Dune Carbon as a deliberate counterpoint to high-torque, high-battery e-MTBs. Rather than maximising motor assist, the Dune pairs the lighter Bosch Performance Line SX (55 Nm) with a non-removable 400 Wh CompactTube battery, keeping the frame weight around 2,650 g and total weight under 20 kg. The result is an e-MTB that rewards skilled riders rather than compensating for technique. Arrives with Zero Suspension System and full Forward Geometry.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Among the lightest 165 mm travel e-MTBs available (~19.7 kg at top spec)
  • Bosch SX motor delivers a natural, trail-bike-like feel that skilled riders prefer
  • Zero Suspension System preserves pedalling efficiency even under motor load
Weaknesses
  • 400 Wh non-removable battery limits range and prevents easy at-home charging
  • 55 Nm is noticeably less powerful than Bosch CX or Shimano EP8 — less able to assist on very steep or long climbs
  • Smaller battery and lighter motor mean the Dune is a poor choice for multi-day bikepacking or heavy riders
