Origin

Kaabo is a Shenzhen-based electric-scooter manufacturer that rose to prominence in the enthusiast community with the Mantis, a mid-tier dual-motor scooter that became one of the most recommended performance models of its era for balancing power, ride quality and price. The Mantis King GT, introduced in 2022, is the crowning revision of that family. Rather than a small facelift, Kaabo treated it as a near-complete overhaul of the Mantis Pro: they swapped the older spring suspension for genuine front-and-rear adjustable hydraulic shocks, upgraded to waterproof sine-wave controllers for smoother, quieter power delivery, added a new 4.2-inch TFT color display and a refined thumb throttle, and bumped the motors from 1000W to 1100W apiece. The result sits in the 'light heavyweight' class alongside rivals like the Vsett 10+, aimed at riders who want serious speed and suspension without stepping up to the much heavier, much pricier hyperscooters.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Outstanding adjustable front/rear hydraulic suspension - class-leading comfort over potholes and rough terrain
  • Strong, confident dual hydraulic disc braking (very short stopping distances) plus EABS
  • Genuine ~45 mph performance with brisk 0-15 mph acceleration and smooth, quiet sine-wave power delivery
Weaknesses
  • Heavier than the previous Mantis Pro (~4 kg more) - carrying/lugging it is a chore
  • Stem rigidity is good but not the stiffest in class (some reported deck/stem flex)
  • Aggressive off-road tires are noisier on smooth pavement and IPX5 means rain-tolerant, not waterproof
