Origin

Eleglide is a house brand of the Chinese electronics group best known for its budget e-bikes and scooters sold across Europe via marketplaces like Geekbuying and its own EU-warehoused store. The brand made its name by undercutting mainstream rivals such as Xiaomi and Ninebot on price while matching the core commuter spec sheet. The S1 family arrived in September 2021 as Eleglide's first serious push into the entry-level scooter market: two near-identical scooters, the S1 and the S1 Plus, sharing one magnesium-alloy chassis, 400W motor and 10-inch pneumatic tyres, differentiated only by battery size. The 'Plus' was the range-anxiety answer to the cheaper S1 — the same ride, but with a 12.5Ah pack instead of 8Ah for riders whose commute needed more headroom.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Excellent value — a genuine 10" pneumatic-tyre scooter for a budget price
  • Comfortable ride for the class thanks to air tyres plus a front shock absorber
  • Sensible commuter package: 45 km claimed range, legal 24 km/h, one-step fold, LCD display
Weaknesses
  • Only a single rear disc brake and no rear suspension — braking and rough-road comfort are basic
  • 400W motor struggles on steeper hills, especially with a heavier rider near the 120 kg limit
  • Only IPX4 splash rating — not for heavy Baltic rain or wet-season all-weather commuting

Generations

  1. S1 (base)

    • Cheaper sibling; same chassis, smaller battery. Best if your commute is short.
  2. S1 Plus

    • Same scooter with a ~55% bigger battery. The one to buy if range matters.
