Stereo ONE77

Origin

ONE77 = 177mm of measured shock travel mapped to the 170mm rear wheel travel via ETC 4-Link kinematics. The naming convention (ONE22 / ONE44 / ONE55 / ONE77) standardises Cube's full-suspension lineup by travel: ONE22 = 120mm trail, ONE44 = 140mm trail, ONE55 = 150mm enduro-light, ONE77 = 170mm enduro/freeride. Pre-2024 the bike was called Stereo 170 — same platform, same 170mm travel. Cube renamed to ONE77 to align the entire Stereo family under a single naming logic and to differentiate clearly from the Stereo Hybrid (e-MTB) line. The ONE77 name debuted with the 2024 model year. The Stereo 170 platform itself is older (2020-2023). Top-of-range enduro race / freeride / bike-park weapon — designed to win EWS-class enduro stages and survive long days in lift-served bike parks. Not a trail bike, not an all-mountain bike — a dedicated long-travel descent-focused machine. high official_plus_press

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Modern enduro race geometry — 63.5 deg HA, 77 deg STA, reach 470mm M / 495mm L. Numbers line up with YT Capra, Canyon Strive, Specialized Enduro at the high end of the segment geometry is bang on for modern enduro racing (BikePerfect)
  • ETC 4-Link rear suspension — supportive mid-stroke with progressive end-stroke, works equally well with air or coil shock without re-engineering ETC 4-Link absolutely glues you to the trail (BikePerfect)
  • Frame coil-ready out of the box — SLT 2024 ships with Marzocchi Bomber CR coil; full lineup can run Fox DHX2, Cane Creek DB Coil, RockShox Super Deluxe Coil
  • Dealer network advantage in Baltic — Tallinn / Riga / Vilnius dealers with demo bikes, warranty service, no DTC wait. Cube vs YT/Canyon = pay slightly more, get full local support
  • 5-year frame warranty on both alloy and HPC carbon — longer than most DTC rivals (YT 2 years)
  • Mullet-compatible via shock yoke flip chip — buyer can run 29F/27.5R without aftermarket geometry adjusters
Weaknesses
  • Pricing no longer undercuts YT/Canyon — Action Team €6999 is in the same band as YT Capra Uncaged or Canyon Strive CFR at full retail. The 'cheap German alternative' positioning has eroded Cube doesn't quite undercut them anymore (BikePerfect)
  • Coil shock on 2024 SLT (Marzocchi Bomber CR) is polarising — works brilliantly on fast/jumpy terrain but feels overdamped on small-bump chatter. Riders should test before committing love-it-or-hate-it choice (MBR)
  • Newmen Phase 30 carbon wheels (Action Team) — nice but rear hub engagement is slow under hard pedalling. Aftermarket DT 240 / Industry Nine swap is a common upgrade rear hub engagement feels slow (BikePerfect)
  • Short seat tube on smaller sizes (S/M) limits long-travel dropper insertion — riders 168-175cm may want size up for full-length 185mm dropper. Carry-over from Stereo 170 era limits dropper insertion on smaller sizes (BikeRadar)
  • No women's-specific tuning, no XS frame size — riders under 162cm are excluded. For shorter riders, Cube directs to Stereo ONE55 or shorter-travel platforms
  • Heavier than some carbon enduro rivals — 14.7-15.5 kg HPC vs Specialized Stumpjumper Carbon 14.0 kg or YT Capra MX Core 4 ~14.5 kg. Difference matters less in enduro than XC, but not nothing

Buyer’s notes

01
Stereo ONE77 sizing is true-to-modern-enduro: 162-172cm = S, 168-182cm = M, 178-192cm = L, 188+ = XL. On the size boundary, size up — long reach helps on descents and the 77 deg STA keeps climbing comfortable
02
Pro alloy (€3199) is mechanically capable enough for 95% of riders — same ETC 4-Link kinematics as the €6999 Action Team. The €4699 SL carbon adds Fox 38 Performance + carbon front triangle + 1kg saving. The €5499+ SLT/Action Team add Kashima coat, Fox Float X2/X Factory, and (Action Team) carbon wheels — diminishing returns past SL for non-racers
03
If you're between Stereo ONE55 (150mm) and ONE77 (170mm) and you ride <50% bike park / lift-served — pick ONE55, it pedals better and is more versatile. ONE77 only earns its place if descending dominates your riding profile
04
Used Stereo 170 SLT or HPC Action Team 2022-2023 at €3000-4500 is the sweet spot — mechanically nearly identical to current ONE77 SLT, geometry only marginally older. Skip Stereo 170 first-gen (2020-2021) unless price is exceptional
05
On used carbon ONE77 / Stereo 170 HPC, inspect the carbon main triangle for cracks under the BB, around the head tube, and along the downtube guard — enduro bikes get rock-strikes, and HPC carbon failures are usually visible if you look
06
Mullet conversion (29F/27.5R) — Cube supports it via the shock yoke flip chip, no aftermarket parts needed. Effect: ~0.4 deg slacker HA, ~5mm lower BB. Try before deciding — some riders love the manoeuvrability, others miss the 29" rear roll-over
07
Coil shock conversion: frame is designed for coil. Stereo ONE77 SLT 2024 ships with Marzocchi Bomber CR coil; SL/Action Team can be retrofitted with Fox DHX2 (~€650) or RockShox Super Deluxe Coil (~€500). Coil makes sense if you ride mostly fast technical descents; air is better for variable terrain
08
Bar width 800mm and stem 40mm are stock — many riders cut bars to 780-790mm to fit narrower trails. Check before cutting: 800mm is usable on most Baltic enduro trails (Otepää, Sigulda) but tight singletrack in Lithuanian forests may benefit from a trim
09
Cube serial number on Stereo ONE77 is on the underside of the BB shell, format starts with 'WOW' followed by 5 digits + 2 letters + 4 digits (MMYY = month/year of manufacture) + final letter F (full-suspension). Useful for verification on used buys — see serial_number section
10
Cube dealer network in Baltic — Cube Tallinn (cube-tallinn.ee), Hawaii Express (LV), various LT dealers. ONE77 demo bikes available at most dealers in summer season. Demo first, especially for the SLT 2024 coil shock — it's polarising
11
Tyre choice — stock Schwalbe Magic Mary (front) + Big Betty (rear) is a strong enduro combo for Baltic conditions. For wetter UK-style mud or alpine roots, consider Magic Mary front + rear in Super Gravity casing. Avoid going lighter on casing — frame is heavy enough that the tyres need to match
12
Frame is rated 'Category 5' per Cube — bike park, sustained drops up to 1.2m, freeride within rider skill envelope. Not rated for World Cup-spec downhill — for that, look at Cube Two15. Don't assume ONE77 = unrestricted DH bike
