Origin
Launched in 2020 as the lightweight all-rounder counterpart to Colnago's pure-aero Concept, the V3Rs is the third generation of the V-series race line whose roots trace to a 2014 collaboration with Ferrari on aerodynamics. It became Colnago's most decorated modern bike: Tadej Pogačar rode it to win the 2020 Tour de France at age 21 — Colnago's first-ever Tour victory in over 65 years of building bikes. It remains revered as the lighter, rim-brake-capable predecessor to the V4Rs.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Outstanding ride quality — smooth, composed and refined, blending comfort and speed unusually well for a race frame
- Excellent climber: ~7 kg complete build with a stiff (+12% rear / +6% head-tube) chassis
- Genuine all-rounder — sprints, climbs, stage races and gran fondos, with 30 mm tire clearance for rough asphalt
- Predictable, direct handling even with deep wheels in crosswinds
- Race pedigree of the highest order — Pogačar's 2020 Tour de France winner
−Weaknesses
- Front end can feel harsh, transmitting larger impacts directly to the rider
- Visually undistinctive — truncated aerofoils and dropped seatstays look like every rival superbike
- Very expensive: over £10,000 as a full build, pricey relative to comparable competitors
- Carbon bar and brake hoods get slippery in the wet
- Sold as frameset only — no complete-bike spec guarantee; minor front-derailleur rub noted on the press build
