CanyonSender CFR

01
Origin
Developed specifically for the World Cup Downhill circuit with Troy Brosnan and Tahnee Seagrave. The Sender CFR utilizes a high-pivot design which allows the rear wheel to move backwards upon impact, carrying momentum through brutal rock gardens better than traditional designs. Gen 2 (2021-present): Major redesign introducing a high-pivot linkage with an idler pulley, mixed wheel (mullet) options, and increased adjustability.

The verdict
+Strengths
- Exceptional stability and composure at speed — 'stable, fast and unwavering' battering through rough rock gardens, thanks to the rearward high-pivot axle path.
- Outstanding value: full-carbon CFR chassis with Boxxer Ultimate / Vivid Coil and SRAM Maven brakes undercuts rivals like the Trek Session.
- Huge, frame-integrated adjustability: ±8 mm reach via offset headset cups, high/low BB flip chip, and 32.7% / 37% progression flip chip — tune it per track.
- Race-ready out of the box with strong, consistent SRAM Maven 4-piston braking on 200/200 mm rotors.
- Heavily armoured and durable: HIT impact tech in the downtube, rubber armour, skid plate, and replaceable threaded inserts protect the expensive frame.
−Weaknesses
- Less playful and lively than rivals in slow or flat sections — it rewards speed and aggression, feels inert when pottering.
- No size-specific rear ends; chainstay length is fixed across the size run, so big and small riders share the same rear-centre balance.
- The K.I.S. steering stabilizer divides reviewers — many run it on the weakest setting or remove it entirely.
- High-pivot idler adds drivetrain drag and noise, plus extra pivots/idler bearings to service over a conventional design.
- Reported headset noise/knocking that persisted even after warranty service on some bikes; the low BB setting (347 mm) can snag the bottom bracket on terrain.
