Origin

The Bad Boy has been Cannondale's stealthy urban statement since the early 2000s — all-black, aggressive, and unmistakable thanks to its single-sided Lefty fork. The modern flagship Bad Boy 1 leans fully into low-maintenance city riding: a Gates Carbon belt drive that never needs lube paired with a Shimano Alfine internal hub, fat 650b tires for pothole comfort, and LED light strips built into the fork and seatpost so the bike is always seen. It's a commuter that looks like a concept bike.

  • Bad Boy 1's belt drive + internal hub is genuinely low-maintenance
  • 650b tires balance speed and city comfort well
Weaknesses

  • Flagship belt-drive build commands a premium
  • Internal-hub gearing range is narrower than a wide derailleur setup
