E-Horizon
Origin
E-Horizon is Bergamont's flagship e-trekking family and arguably the best-known model in the brand's electric catalogue across the DACH and Baltic markets. It has been in production since the late 2010s and has gone through several full redesigns; the current platform (2024-2026) is based on Bergamont's Monotube concept, which fully integrates a 500-750 Wh Bosch PowerTube battery into the down-tube and accepts the latest Bosch Smart System electronics. The range is deliberately broad — Tour, Sport, Premium and SUV trims, plus Edition, FS (full-suspension) and Country variants — so the same name covers everything from a €3,000 commuter trekking bike with rack, lights and fenders to a €5,000+ adventure trekker with suspension fork and dropper post. Common to all is the upright trekking geometry, full equipment package and reliance on Bosch as the drive system. E-Horizon is the model that, more than any other, defines how Bergamont is perceived: a mid-priced, full-equipment German e-trekking brand aimed at touring families and serious daily commuters.

The verdict
- Responsive, amply powerful Bosch mid-drive (CX/PX) that handles loaded climbs and trailers with ease
- Genuinely maintenance-free daily driver — half-enclosed/belt drivetrain, full mudguards and integrated lights; reviewer did 'exactly zero maintenance'
- Comfortable upright sit-up geometry with good visibility for all-day commuting and touring
- Full equipment package out of the box: rack, fenders, B&M lights wired to main battery, kickstand
- Very broad range — Tour/Sport/Premium/SUV/FS trims and Gent/Wave frames cover commuter to off-road touring
- Stock saddle ergonomics criticised by reviewers (Ergon ST10 'I don't rate')
- Front light beam has a very defined cut-off, making aiming/positioning fiddly
- High Gent top-tube hard to mount for shorter riders — low-step Wave frame strongly preferred
- Noticeable frame twist/flex when towing a loaded trailer
- Abrupt battery cut-out: little warning before assist actually stops
- Heavy (~24.5-29 kg) — awkward to lift onto racks or carry up stairs
