Luca E-go
Origin
The Luca E-go is Batavus's approachable women-oriented e-city bike, designed to deliver effortless Dutch cycling to everyday commuters and leisure riders. Its defining quirk is the battery placement: rather than an in-frame integration, the Bosch 500 Wh pack sits under the rear carrier, lowering the overall visual mass of the frame. An integrated BRAKE-light powered by the e-bike battery was a notable convenience feature at launch. The LX version targeted riders wanting premium components — Shimano Nexus 7, Bosch Purion display — in a comfort-first package.

The verdict
- Under-carrier battery placement makes charging easy without any frame manipulation
- Shimano Nexus 7 + coaster + front roller brake is an extremely low-maintenance drivetrain and brake system
- Large 500 Wh battery gives long range for a city e-bike, reducing charge-anxiety for longer commutes
- Coaster brake can be disorienting for riders unfamiliar with Dutch braking conventions
- Bosch Active Line Plus at 40 Nm may feel underpowered compared to Performance Line competitors on hilly terrain
- Battery under rear carrier raises the bike's rear weight slightly, affecting handling when heavily loaded
