Origin

The Apollo City is Apollo Scooters' flagship dual-motor urban commuter and has been continuously refined since its 2019 debut. The current 2024 generation uses a 48V architecture with 52 high-density 21700 cells, dual hydraulic brakes, a fully suspended frame, and IP66 water resistance — making it arguably the most capable scooter in its price bracket for serious daily commuting. Apollo positions the City between the lightweight Air and the high-performance Phantom: it has the dual-motor torque needed for hills and rapid acceleration without the weight penalty of a Phantom-class scooter. Designed in Montreal with manufacturing in China. The City has become a benchmark in independent reviews from Electric Scooter Guide, Ride Review, and Electrek.

The verdict

+Strengths
  • Exceptional build quality — integrated custom design rather than off-the-shelf parts; feels premium and confidence-inspiring at high speed.
  • Self-healing tubeless tires practically eliminate flats (seal around a 2" nail), a major real-world commuting advantage.
  • Class-leading weather resistance (IP66) lets it handle rain and dust far better than most mid-tier rivals.
  • Strong safety/visibility package: turn signals, 500-lumen headlight, deck lights, and integrated bell.
  • Capable smartphone app with customizable acceleration/braking curves and navigation integration.
Weaknesses
  • High price tag — sits at the pricier end of the commuter-scooter segment.
  • Heavy (~26–30 kg) — awkward to carry up stairs or lift into a car despite the folding mechanism.
  • No dedicated rear friction brake — rear stopping relies on regenerative braking, which some riders dislike for emergency stops.
  • Front drum brake offers softer, less progressive feel than the hydraulic discs found on some competitors.
  • Range/speed figures are best-case; real-world range drops noticeably in higher-speed modes.

Who it’s for

Daily commuter 10–25 km with hills, mixed surfaces, and rain — wants one scooter that does everything without compromise and is willing to pay mid-premium for build quality and a 2-year warranty.
