Xiaomi entered the micromobility market in 2016 with the M365, an e-scooter that quietly became the global reference design — cloned, rebadged (Segway-Ninebot shares DNA) and adopted by early rental fleets across Europe. The Mi Electric Scooter 3, unveiled 26 July 2021 and on sale that autumn, is the direct evolution of that lineage. Rather than chase the power-hungry performance segment, Xiaomi doubled down on what made the M365 a phenomenon: a genuinely light, genuinely foldable scooter that a commuter can carry up stairs and onto a tram. The 3 kept the familiar silhouette but reworked the internals — a punchier 600W-peak motor, a redesigned three-step folding mechanism, improved eABS regenerative braking and a lighter 13.2 kg chassis. It launched into a maturing market where regulation (EU 25 km/h caps) had settled, and where Xiaomi's scale let it undercut nearly everyone on price.
