Kugoo is the best-known consumer sub-brand of Shenzhen-based Chinese e-mobility maker (associated with Sunred / Jilong Technology), which has built affordable folding scooters, e-bikes and hoverboards since the mid-2010s. The 'Kirin' name references the Qilin, a mythical Chinese creature symbolising good fortune, and the brand leaned on the KugooKirin naming through its early years. In 2022 the company rebranded its scooter line to 'KuKirin' to consolidate its identity in Europe, though the products are still widely listed and searched for as 'Kugoo'. The M5 sits in Kugoo's mid-range: it took the commuter DNA of the popular M4 Pro and added a bigger 1000W motor and, crucially, a much more elaborate suspension setup. The base M5 arrived around 2021, and a refined M5 Pro followed in 2023 with a larger frame, 11-inch front tire, higher load rating and an included saddle/storage kit, positioning it as a value long-range city scooter for the European market via warehouses in Poland.
