Algupära

Wilier Triestina is one of cycling's oldest names, founded in 1906 in Bassano del Grappa, northern Italy. After a storied racing history (its riders won the Giro d'Italia in the post-war years and the brand's copper-red 'ramato' finish became iconic), Wilier was revived in 1969 and grew into a full-range performance brand. The Jaroon arrived around 2016-2017 as Wilier's answer to the exploding gravel and adventure segment. Unusually for a company known for exotic carbon race machines, Wilier chose double-butted chromoly steel for the original Jaroon, using an internal-welding technique to give the frame clean, seamless-looking joints under a natural lacquered finish. It was pitched as a rugged, characterful all-surface bike rather than a race weapon. Years later Wilier re-launched the Jaroon nameplate as an aluminium frame (My2024) with modern internal cable routing and wider 45mm tyre clearance, keeping the adventurous positioning while shedding the steel weight — effectively a second-generation bike sharing only the name.

Verdikt

+Tugevused
  • Distinctive, high-quality looks — clean internal welds and lacquered steel that stands out
  • Stable, confidence-inspiring handling from the long wheelbase and chainstays; excellent hydraulic braking
  • Genuinely versatile: 42-45mm tyre clearance plus full rack and mudguard mounts for bikepacking/touring
Nõrkused
  • Steel frame is excessively stiff — a harsh, fatiguing ride on technical gravel over long distances
  • Heavy for the class, especially the steel era, so it feels sluggish to accelerate and on tarmac
  • Steering is slower and takes more effort than sharper rivals; not for those wanting a quick, playful bike
