Algupära

The West launched around 2019 as Megamo's first full-carbon gravel platform, stepping up from the Jakar's aluminum frame to a full Advanced Composite construction. It evolved steadily, and by the mid-2020s received a significant redesign: a new SL carbon layup, increased tire clearance to 50 mm, integrated cockpit on top builds, and explicit gravel-suspension-fork compatibility — moving the West clearly into adventure gravel territory.

Verdikt

+Tugevused
  • Full-carbon Advanced Composite frame and fork deliver a noticeably lighter and more refined ride than comparable aluminum gravel bikes
  • Wide build range from SRAM Apex entry to Force AXS race-ready lets the West scale with rider ambition
  • 50 mm tire clearance and suspension fork compatibility (2024+) make it genuinely adventure-capable
Nõrkused
  • Earlier generation limited to 45 mm tires — less capable for heavy mixed-terrain than competitors like the Trek Checkpoint
  • Proprietary Megamo cockpit components on lower builds limit aftermarket customization
  • Limited brand recognition outside Spain/Southern Europe can affect resale value in Northern Europe
